Macon, etc.

This past weekend was a crazy one for multiple reasons.  Cameron and I had a secret. Well, I had a secret... from my parents.  I got a new little addition to my little family in the making...

This is Macon Ferguson-Baird.  He is a 6 week old German Shorthaired Pointer, and my little sunshine.  He is very loving and cuddly, very smart, and already the light of my world.  I am obsessed with him, and I feel like I just had a baby.  He consumes all of my time, and little rotten cannot be alone for more than 3 seconds (unless he's passed out) without crying to be held.  He has gotten a lot more used to Cameron's apartment though, and has been sleeping through the night in his kennel.  Sometimes though, he gets in bed with Mommy.  I cant help it, I just want to squeeze him.

Cameron and I drove to Chattanooga, TN Friday morning to stay so that we could split up the drive to go and get him in Pulaski, TN on Saturday.  I was so excited, I couldn't stand it.  And also very nervous, because my parents were not going to be happy.  We went to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga that day (pictures to follow -- they are on Cameron's phone), and then out to dinner that night at an AWESOME place called Big River Grille and Brewing Works.  It's a lot like Southend Brewery (for those of you familiar with Charleston), but I think the food is way better.  I got a dish called Mac-n-Chicken, which was a really rich bowl of traditional mac-n-cheese with roasted, seasoned chicken slices, and parmesan bread crumbs.  It was sooooo good with an ice cold Southern Flyer, their signature light beer.

Then we went to a little bar called Sing It or Wing It, which was fully entertaining.  It is literally a karaoke restaurant and bar.  You can order bar food and drinks, all to watch and participate in 24/7 karaoke.  Some people were really good (I was sure to tell them to try out for American Idol), and some were just plain awful.  I am kicking myself now for not getting footage of some of the acts.  Cameron refused to get up there with me, so we just enjoyed from the sidelines.

All and all, it was a great weekend.  I finally got up the courage to tell my mom over the phone last night that Macon was going to be part of the family.  It went a lot better than planned, and she still loves me. She took the fall to tell my dad, but luckily he didn't seem to upset either.  Cameron and I are taking him home to Charleston this weekend to meet the fam. Let's just hope Lucy is as welcoming as they are. :)
